Time for some housework!

From late November to January our moorland gamekeepers check any nestboxes that may need cleaning out or repairing.

Most of the nestboxes will only need cleaning out every 2-3 years as nest debris accumulates and increases in depth. We need to maintain a safe depth in the boxes to avoid young owlets falling before they are ready to leave the nest.
