Moorland gamekeepers avert wildfire in the Peak District
Peak District Moorland Group
Yet again Moorland Gamekeepers in the Langsett area of the Peak District were on hand to prevent another possible wildfire incident.
The 'keepering team smelt smoke yesterday and went and investigated, they discovered what is believed to have been the remains of a campfire, along with paracord around some trees, possibly from hammocks being used the previous night?
A lady and child near the scene had already tried their best to extinguish the fire, but the 'keepers returned with a tank full of water to extinguish the smouldering ground fire.
Whilst the news is covering many stories of wildfires across Europe in this current heatwave, there are so many more that go unreported, that the rural community just deal with.
Well done to all!
