Who ate all the pies?
Nidderdale Moorland Group
With the season now in full swing from early morning on shoot days pies, pasties, bacon sandwiches, cakes etc can be seen heading off up the dale from our various local butcher’s and bakers as local businesses benefit from the trade that comes in from shoot day staff, the beaters, pickers up and guns who provide regular income during the quieter time of year for some businesses in the dale.
Many of our local butchers and shops also supply the local pubs, hotels and private shoot parties with all their meat, bread and other shoot day related consumables.
Just one of our local butcher’s order books showed that in a season an extra 2000 pies were ordered just for shoot days without the walk in customers also calling in for their own pies on the way to our local shoots.
That’s a lot of pies! It’s a good job we walk so many miles!
We might be slightly biased, but we think our local Nidderdale butchers make the tastiest pies!
