Learning ‘moor’ in Nidderdale

Nidderdale Moorland Group

We’ve had a busy two days of moorland education for primary school children here in Nidderdale with our Let’s Learn Moor 2024 event.

The weather might have been challenging yesterday, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the children.

We can’t put these days on without the help and support from our partner organisations who all offer the children and their teachers a fantastic opportunity to see how we live, work and look after these precious upland habitats and rural communities they support.

A big thank you to Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue, Yorkshire Water, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust & Yorkshire Peat Partnership, Paul Newbould our local upland farmer, Phil, Patrice and Phil our three local Beekeepers, Oxclose Fine Foods for providing game for tasting, the moorland and low ground gamekeepers from around Nidderdale for once again providing an insight for the children and teachers into their work on the moorlands with the wildlife, habitats & keeping our moors safe from wildfires, Countryside Learning, BASC and the NGO Educational Trust.
